English Corner Reading Practice of Grade 5

2017-10-23

On 19 October, children in Grade 5 took part in English Corner for practising their reading and question-answering skills. They showed a sheer eagerness to participate in this fun language task, which is held once a term.

At 3:05 pm, all the English teachers stood on the ground floor hallway with a smile and waited to access how students from a high grade read the English passage and answer questions about what they read. When the bell rang for a recess at 3:10 pm, groups came down orderly. Their happy faces and loud voices of practice told the teachers and schoolmates that they were there to do nothing but succeed.

The passage was about a father called Mr John teaching his son Andy basic mathematic sums which Andy had great difficuties in. Mr Johnwas trying to teach him the double-digit addition and Andy found himself insufficient fingers and toes to work it out. Mr John was upset and shouted Andy to use his head. Obviously th innocent boy thought his only head was not enough for the addition.

Students tried to sound like angry and naive when they read the part of dialogs and that have made teachers laughing. In answering questions they showed a good understanding of the passage.
